We left monday morning about 9:00 to go down river to Hamburg cove for our first night. We have old “Mainship” friends who plan to be there as then travel to Champlain and north to Canada for 35 days….yeah fellow travelers…Mainships Rule!!!!
On the way we saw Portland/ Middletown going away
Hamburg cove gave a view of a boat we had seen alot in the Mystic river as it was being restored…stunning old Chesapeake Bay work boat.
Some really cool things I have learned about retirement –
– I shave every once in a while, usually after several weeks and ONLY if I remember to do so.
– Our life is focused on US, even though we still have close connections with the rest of the family and the problems that go along with it. This time its about US…..and the dog of course.
– We thank the Lord each and every day for the blessings He has richly bestowed upon us to allow us the desire of our hearts and be traveling by boat as we have wanted to do for so many years.
– Let out 30-40% more chain than you think you need. Always back down on your anchor to 1200 RPMs……then you will sleep well at night especially when the wind shift comes that you didnt know about.
– I take comfort that my friend Jay Leonard probably has every spare part needed for cruising on a Lehman 120. I, OTOH, only have about half of his spare part inventory.
– You will meet some really neat Loopers along the way, and find them to be really good friends.
– I had to go to a 12-step program in order to reduce my orders from Defender once I started living on retirement income.
Mom & Dad-We LOVE you and MISS you!
